As we rented a scooter in Ella, we drove by ourselves. Getting to Nine Arch Bridge is pretty easy: follow the way to Ella Flower Garden Resort (the same spot you have to pass on the way to Little Adam’s Peak) and continue the road to the left. After a few hundred meters turn left by the Ella Hostel and follow the Nine Arch Bridge Road. Then, keep to the left after passing Lake Front Cottage and follow the road till the end. Here you can drop your scooter, and just continue the narrow path downhill, on foot. After a minute you will be able to spot the bridge in the distance.

See the road itinerary on google maps.

TIP : Prior to our departures, we always save on google maps all the places and hotels we want to visit. This insures us that the map is always loaded even if we don’t have reception. So we can always find our way.

The train passes on Nine Arch Bridge few times a day. You can see the timetable here. Remember that even an hour of delay is typical for trains in Sri Lanka.

TIP : Make sure to walk down the small tea plantation below the bridge for great photo opportunities.
